A New Turn for Artist Diane English
Is this a more serious take for the creator of famously-flippant The Great Cosmic Happy Ass Card Co.? “You bet,” says artist Diane English. The new collection, she says, “moves my story forward. For years my approach to spirituality was to use my flair for the divinely absurd to remind people of their spiritual side without taking themselves too seriously. But a new inspiration kept nudging me. I recognized I had to create larger pieces expressing not only my own spiritual growth but also the transformation in thought I see happening around the entire Planet.” The new artwork also parallels a more personal artistic journey that, over the years, has taken Diane English from self-taught artist to successful entrepreneur to designer of her irreverently original (and wildly successful) greeting card designs that have sold in bookstores and galleries nationwide. “The cards were cartoons that let me play with the truth,” says English. “With this new collection, I’m listening more closely to my voice. This artwork is much larger in size and the messages are coming from a much deeper level - more direct, richer, more powerful.”
